Reason for going to Children's National:
Brianna was born with a chromosomal abnormality, Trisomy 18, along with congenital heart defects. She required urgent care, and SkyBear, the rapid air transport system, quickly transferred her to a specialized hospital for life-saving heart surgery.
Fun Fact:
She is our youngest Miracle Kid!
Brianna, Age: 5
Reason for going to Children's National:
Trevor was diagnosed with ependymoma, a type of brain tumor, with a mass the size of a tennis ball pressing on his occipital lobe. He underwent a complex brain resection followed by six months of intensive chemotherapy. In January 2012, his MRI brought incredible news: he was cancer-free!

Trevor likes to play sports, including basketball, baseball, and lacrosse!

Reason for going to Children's National:
When Mason was a baby, doctors discovered a large hole in his heart, a serious congenital defect that required immediate attention. At just 12 weeks old, Mason underwent open-heart surgery to repair the issue. Thanks to expert care and his incredible strength, Mason began his journey to a healthier heart at an early age.
Fun Fact:
Mason virtually DJed power hour at Terp Thon in 2021 and 2022!! He DJed in person in 2023! Mason also plays the Saxophone!

Reason for going to Children's National:
Victoria was born three months early and diagnosed as a toddler with mild cerebral palsy, affecting her motor skills. Her mother initially feared she’d need a wheelchair for life, but supportive healthcare providers eased those worries. After corrective surgery and ongoing treatment, Victoria can now walk, run, and play freely as she enters middle school!

Victoria is a spunky girl who loves to play video games and to be with her five dogs and 2 cats!

Reason for going to Children's National:
Shortly after birth, Sam was diagnosed with tetralogy of Fallot and a large ventricular septal defect. Though surgery was planned for 3 months old, signs of heart failure brought him to Children’s National Hospital just two weeks later. Within a week, he underwent successful open-heart surgery. Sam recovered so quickly, he left the Cardiac ICU in half the expected time!

Sam, Age: 14
Reason for going to Children's National:
When Fionn was just two years old, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the most common type of childhood cancer. His diagnosis marked the beginning of a challenging journey, but with the support of his care team and family, Fionn bravely began treatment with strength well beyond his years.

Fionn is an honorary member of the Maryland Men's Lacrosse team!

Reason for going to Children's National:
Luca was born with urea cycle disorder, a rare genetic disorder that inhibits the liver from processing proteins. Her condition was so severe that at 4 months old, Luca was in need of a liver transplant, but finding a match at that time was very difficult. Thankfully, her father was tested as a match and was able to donate some of his liver to her.

Luca loves basketball and cheer and her favorite colors are pink and blue!

Reason for going to Children's National:
Mariana was born with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of a Newborn (PPHN) meaning she did not have enough oxygen reaching her lungs. Children’s National Hospital’s rapid helicopter transport service, SkyBear, rushed her to Children’s National. She received care in our neonatal intensive care unit for a month.
Fun Fact:
Mariana loves to paint, run and wants to be an orthopedic doctor when she grows up!

Reason for going to Children's National:
At just 2 years old, Brooke went from playing on the playground to being diagnosed with acute myeloid Lukemia in the blink of an eye. Brooke immediately started chemotherapy, but doctors said a bone marrow transplant was necessary to save her life. Luckily, Brooke's sister was a perfect match and stepped up to save her sister's life.

Brooke likes to play softball, is a Marching Band stage champion; her favorite color is yellow and she is a huge swiftie!

Samerya has Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)/Nephrotic syndrome, a form of kidney disease that prevents her body from breaking down proteins.Reason for going to Children's National:

Samerya was a Children’s Miracle Network Champion in 2019, and her favorite color is yellow!

Reason for going to Children's National:
After persistent symptoms of constant nausea and fevers, Sumukh’s pediatrician began tests and discovered leukemia. When arriving at Children’s National Hospital, Sumukh started blood transfusions and started chemotherapy and had a child life specialist who helped explain everything to him and his family.

Sumukh is very social and loves to be around people, he likes cars, planes, and sports!

Reason for going to Children's National:
After weeks of constant nausea and fevers, Sumukh was diagnosed with leukemia. At Children’s National Hospital, he began blood transfusions and chemotherapy. A child life specialist supported him and his family, helping them understand and cope with each step of treatment.
