Melody is 14 years old, and loves music and playing outside. Throughout her stay at Children’s National Hospital, she frequently visited the music therapy room and Bunny Mellon Healing Garden because they made the hospital feel a little less scary. Melody is a fan of the Seacrest Studios at Children’s National Hospital, and uses music and dance to connect with others. Although she was being treated for Leukemia, the way that the staff helped her feel at home was irreplaceable. “At Children’s National, we aren’t just a diagnosis,” says Melody’s mom. “It feels like the hospital cares for us as a family, and that’s really important to us.”
