A Mile for Miracles: Terp Thon’s Color Run

After 7 years, Terp Thon is SO excited to announce the return of our Color Run, now rebranded as A Mile For Miracles! We’re bringing this beloved campus tradition with a renewed purpose: creating a fun, accessible way for the UMD and local communities to get involved with Terp Thon and support children’s health.

A Color Run is a fun, community-focused event where participants walk or run along a designated route while being showered with colorful powder, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Hosted at McKeldin Mall, the heart of the University of Maryland’s campus. On October 24, 2026, join us for a 1.25 mile run or walk around McKeldin Mall, inspired by the $125 cost of a pediatric wheelchair for patients to bring home when leaving Children’s National Hospital. Whether you are ready to run the whole route, take a leisurely walk, or do a little of both, A Mile For Miracles is for everyone! Anyone can participate: students, faculty, local community members, family, and friends! No matter your pace or experience level, you can be part of the fun and help support a meaningful cause. Check in starts at 10am. We will have food, lawn games, Inspiration station bracelet making, opportunities to meet and hear speeches from our Miracle Kids, and our race will begin around 11am. 

One of the most special parts of A Mile for Miracles will be having our amazing Miracle Kids there to celebrate with us! Our Miracle Kids remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to continue supporting children’s health. Having them be part of this event makes every step even more meaningful and gives our community the chance to celebrate the incredible kids at the heart of our mission. 

The event spans so much more than just a mile. It’s an opportunity to bring our community together, raise awareness for children’s health, and show how small actions can make a meaningful difference. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering on friends, there’s a place for everyone at A Mile For Miracles!

We’re so excited to bring color, energy, and a beloved tradition back to campus after 7 years. We can’t wait to welcome our Miracle Kids, connect with UMD and local communities, and make new memories while supporting a cause that means so much to us. The first 50 registrants will receive a free Terp Thon T-shirt ($10 to purchase after the first 50 while supplies last), first 200 people to check-in day of will receive a Wonder gift card, and all registrants will receive a raffle ticket for a Kendra Scott necklace and a Terp Thon bib!
