Behind the Lens: Color Run Recap

After seven years, Terp Thon's Color Run finally made its return to the University of Maryland campus! Rebranded as A Mile For Miracles, this beloved campus tradition came back with a renewed purpose: bringing our UMD and local communities together to support children's health. On October 24, 2026, McKeldin Mall was filled with color, excitement, and UMD spirit as over 280 participants came together to make miracles, one mile at a time!

From the moment participants arrived, there was so much excitement in the air. With colorful powder stations along the route, everyone had the chance to get covered in color while walking or running their way around McKeldin Mall. Beyond the race itself, participants enjoyed bracelet making at our Inspiration Station, lawn games, food, and opportunities to connect with our Terp Thon community. Whether participants came ready to run the entire route or simply enjoy a morning of fun with friends and family, there was something for everyone!

One of the most meaningful parts of A Mile For Miracles was having our incredible Miracle Kids join us for the celebration. Some of our Miracle Kids even ran the route alongside participants, making every step that much more special. Hearing their stories and having the opportunity to celebrate with them reminded us why we dedicate so much of our time and energy to Terp Thon. Our Miracle Kids are at the heart of everything we do, and getting to share this experience with them made the return of this event even more meaningful.

A Mile For Miracles was about so much more than completing a 1.25-mile route. It was about bringing people together, building connections, raising awareness for children's health, and showing how small actions can make a big difference. Seeing over 280 people come together to support our mission was a reminder of the impact our community can have when we unite for something bigger than ourselves.

After seven years away, we couldn't be more excited to have brought this tradition back to campus. We are so grateful to everyone who registered, volunteered, attended, and helped make A Mile For Miracles possible. Most importantly, we are thankful to our Miracle Kids and their families for continuing to inspire us and remind us of the reason behind our mission.

Thank you for helping us bring color, joy, and hope back to McKeldin Mall. We can't wait to continue making memories, growing our community, and supporting children's health together. Here's to making miracles, one mile at a time! 🌈🏃
